As we know use of cancer chemotherapeutic drugs is associated with several side effects and adverse drug reactions (ADRs) ranging from mild nausea to fatal myelosuppression. Most of them are not preventable during chemotherapy. Thus, for assuring the drug safety as well as to prevent the morbidity and mortality due to ADRs, I request you all kindly report any kind of suspected chemotherapy induced side effects or reactions to Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission http://www.ipc.gov.in/PvPI/pv_adr.html.

Sir, IPC have established ADR monitoring centres in various tertiary care hospitals of country and provided technical associate to these hospitals to collect drug induced ADR/side effects from physicians. However, we are also appealing the consumers to report drug induced SAEs/ADR/side effects. Don't the hospitals /doctors treating cancer patients record and report reactions to chemotherapeutic drugs? I think that would be a better route for compiling data rather than asking the public for feed-back. If they are not doing so, it should be made mandatory. more
