Our Circle efforts bearing fruits...
Happy to share with you that while a few of our whitepapers/recommendations were acted immediately upon, many 6-9 months later are now seeing some solid action from the Govt.
Here are four items, one each in areas of ease of doing business, fighting corruption, energizing bureaucracy & real estate reforms that have recently seen the light of the day:
1) Business incorporation to take just 1 form now.
2) Stronger anti-corruption act cleared by cabinet enhances punishment for bribery from the current minimum 6 months to 3 years and from the maximum five years to seven years and classifies bribery as heinous crime. This is the first strong move in area of anti-corruption by the Govt.
3) To energize bureaucratic decision making, the Government is looking at providing bureaucrats post-retirement shield in cases of graft who in many cases have been pulled out of retirement. This fear has in the recent years has led to fear of decision making within the bureaucracy. With this, retired bureaucrats are sought to be buffered against prosecution without prior sanction for decisions they took during their working life.
4) Revival of real estate bill which will penalize developers who sell buildings before necessary approvals and then don't deliver. Passage of bill (pending) will have significant positive impact on consumer grievances in real estate.
