Other Services - service charge issue
I and my sister visited a south delhi spa today. In the bill there was a service charge and when we asked why and if it was voluntary, they said it was mandatory per system. Like to know what are the govt guidelines on same? more

Every one should know that service chrgs are not mandotry it is obligation charges on depending qualitively service it had already been clear by authority.we are persuing govt.to bring clear ordancre on this issue more

once again we confirm that service charge is bakshis , ie payment , made out of concern for good service rendered. while giving good service is mandatory , payment of service charges is left to the wishes of the consumer more

Ms Rohini Sahni, as far as I know Spas, hair dressers etc. provide mainly services and any charge over and above what has been mentioned in their cost of services is illegal and can be challenged in the consumer forum. A case where an Air Line charged its customers more than the MRP for a drinking water bottle was decided against the Air Line and the customer awarded a compensation for the inconvinience and the Air line fined. Approach the consumer forum for redressal. more

Service charge can not be mendatory. Recently also Govt. has clarified that service charge can not be binding on the customer. This may be taken up with consumer forum. more
