No Work No Pay for MPs

Parliament is being used as a political battle field rather than a policy making body for India's progress. The recent developments of parliament disruption with the demand for resignation of 3 persons has costed the country nearly 260 crores for the wash out of the winter session. The disruption of the house has caused more damage to the country than the merit of the case. The reason given by the honourable opposition MPs are rather childish. You have done it in your time and so it is our turn. Is this the way a country runs? What kind of leadership maturity we have chosen to lead us? In the last 6 decades of our freedom, the political class has used democracy to their full advantage. In the name of collective will they have played their game both in the street and parliament. Now people have slowly understood the gimmicks and showing resistance to it. The 2014 verdict is a clear indicator of the rising collective conscience and people's wish to be a stakeholder in governance. Now this collective conscience again need to be exerted on the law makers for a No Work No Pay law. There is an urgent need to pass a law that MPs will not be entitled for any pay and allowance for the period the house didn't work. This will also show how much you are willing to sacrifice for the cause you are disrupting the house. The respective party leadership will be responsible for the loss of pay for their members. Public demand for such a law will certainly help curb this disruption menace at bay in the near future. more

There may be few examples of leaders who resigned on moral grounds on allegations because they were not corrupt nor power hungry. But not all leaders were like that. 60 years post-independence one party ruled & did not set any such example. To cling to power acts like partition, distorting & hiding information of people like Bose, Statute like emergency, dynasty rule to name few amongst many. All know during congress regime their ministers were involved in corruption causing billions of rupees loss to exchequer. The charges on them were almost proved. They did not resign spontaneously. BJP compelled such ministers to resign. Congress has taken this to their heart. Now they want to prove, by hook or crook, the BJP is equally corrupt by demanding resignations on flimsy grounds. They are making false propaganda to show the actions of present ministers are malicious & corrupt without any proof of violation of any law. One should see through the intention of the congress. It is determined to prove BJP is worse than congress. If these 3 ministers were resigned was there any guarantee that the congress would stop. They would disrupt for Dr. Raman, Pankaja Munde, Smriti Irani, then on the pretext of having common surname with Lalit they would disrupt for PM’s resignation. Congress has predetermined not to allow the present govt to function on the fear that they may not come back to power if country progress. They want some excuse to disrupt the progress. Even any investigation exonerates these minister, congress would have rejected the decision of investigation & kept on making false propaganda. It is not BJP that delayed the statement of accused minister in parliament. It is congress which had made its mind not to allow minister to make statement. It is congress which did not allow RS to function to debate on bills. It is high time we must take right stand & criticize the party doing wrong rather than taking middle stand & blaming both. It is the time we must vote the party out doing wrong rather than justifying such action. Nobody denies that BJP is not cent percent pure nor their leaders are gods. We may not find any party or human who is cent percent pure in the world. It is time we must choose lesser evil. We should not equate person or party involved in malicious acts & various scams with person or party involved in minor impropriety. As against 6 decades rule of one party at least one decade should be given to other party & then decide who is good & who is bad. more
Best said Sri Govind Rao . OUR PARTICIPATION SHALL BRING IN THE REAL FRUIT AND APPLICABILITY OF THE PROMINENT PROVISIONS OF OUR CONSTITUTION TO COMMON PEOPLE OF THE COUNTRY WHICH ONLY IS POSSIBLE AFTER CURBING CORRUPTION , TAX EVASION , MIS USE OF POWER & FUNDS AND ALLOWING BLACK MONEY & WEALTH CARRYING AGAINST THE INDIAN LAWS IN FORCE AND THIS IS POSSIBLE ONLY AFTER THE FIT REFORM CITED BY ME ABOVE Let us hope . more
Friends, I have a little different views on running the Parliament - may be I am wrong, still - e.g. earlier we have seen that in many occasions MPs did even resign immediately on getting any allegation against them pending justification on allegation(s) made against them. Even we have seen in the past that whenever a Railway accident used to take place, the Railway Minister (Ruling Party) used to take moral responsibility of such incidents on them and submit their resignations. And now we see that inspite of various allegations on MPs ( whether true/false), they do not do so even at the cost of non-working of Parliament, thereby depriving our country to move ahead on the growth path. In the recent Parliament sessions , we have lost billions of rupees on this account, apart from not being able to decisions on various important Bills. Is it so big a deal for a Ruling Party, if demand for resignation is made as a sole reason by the so called Opposion for allowing to run the Parliament, and the same is obliged by the Ruling Party ( pending further debate and enquiry on the allegation) by removing that particular Minister in the larger interest of the country, instead of making such a 'resignation' an issue of " ego ". If this demand is accepted, the Opposition party will not be able to raise another such issue as a tool to disrupt Parliament function. And if Opposition is still intentionally trying to disrupt Parliament on some other issue, the whole country will clearly understand the ulterior motive of Opposition or whoever it is. In the present situation I strongly feel that a strong mechanism is set in place to take firm action against those who play with issue relating to country's growth and development. Also, I strongly feel that in the present Parliament session, what compelled the Ruling party to clarify the issue on the 'first day' itself to avoid such a situation. is it just not "ego"? - I think both Ruling and Opposition parties are equally responsible for this situation for which our country is suffering. Our leaders are 'window' of our country and they very well know that such irresponsible behaviour at the cost of country's growth and development can only be possible only in a liberal country like India because our "democracy" allows that a few handful of Ministers can damage the country's growth to meet their personal 'ego' and 'goal'. Are we really living in an Independent country? Regards. Jai Hind more

No Work No Pay for MPs. Dear Nabajyothiji, Who will implement this?. MP/MLAs themselves decide their salary, increment in salary, traveling allowance, medical allowance, sitting allowance plus many other benefits including subsidized canteen benefits, they themselves decide the amount of subsidy. This is the only issue where ruling and opposition are in unison. Will they be willing to do anything detrimental to their interest? If the benefit is for public they will come forward and ask us to waive it, but in their case it will not happen. more
