New Delhi station parking rules

Starting June 25, the Northern Railway has introduced a new access-controlled parking system at New Delhi Railway Station’s Ajmeri Gate side. The first eight minutes of parking will be free, but after that, charges will apply to reduce traffic jams caused by long waiting vehicles.

Parking Charges

First 8 minutes: Free
8 to 15 minutes: ₹50
More than 15 minutes: ₹200
Why These Changes?

Officials say many people park their cars for a long time while picking up or dropping off passengers, which creates heavy traffic, especially during morning and evening hours. To solve this problem, a private company has been hired to manage the parking, and it will install automatic boom barriers and entry-exit control systems.
How It Will Work

Drivers will either pay using FASTag or get a token from a kiosk when they enter.
The fee will be collected when they exit.
Marshals will be present to ensure smooth movement.
What If You Want to Stay Longer

If someone needs to park for a longer time, they can use nearby designated parking lots, which have different charges.
Current Problems

Right now, traffic jams are common on the Ajmeri Gate side. Cabs, autos, and private vehicles block the way. Many drivers even drop people far from the station, forcing them to walk long distances with luggage.
The new system aims to fix this chaos and make the area outside the station more organised and convenient. more

Its extremely ridiculous, you have ample of space and parking place but its not informed to the visitors and your goons are collecting huge money from the visitors. There is no transparency at all. Gunfa raaj in rly station. more
Very sad unrealistic approaches more
Problem is, not the charges. Actual pain point is the kind of goonda raj that prevails near the exist gates. I've experienced multiple times that I drop somebody at the station within 3-4 minutes, next 4 minutes are spent waiting at the gates, where the goons keep arguing with someone, and there's a long line of cars waiting for their turn. End result - While I would've exited withing 5 minutes, I remain inside for more than 10-15 minutes. So, now I am penalized with the parking charges, because of no delay or clogging on my part. At times, it appears to be some kind of a cartel, fleecing hapless people like us. So, it should all be contactless/ unmanned gates, so that delay can be avoided. A car not having a fastag, should not be allowed to enter inside. more
