National Portal and One Centralized Registration system for Contractors throughout India

If anyone wants to work at different departments, in different states, then he has to register himself at so many departments state wise. This becomes very troublesome for peoples. We feel we are staying in too many small Countries in One Country. When any firm or person has acquired the capability of working , then he must be recognized and allowed to work anywhere in India . There is requirement of only one Nationwide Centralized Registration system. Peoples are doing the same thing repeatedly by registering at different departments. This is waste of Time. There is requirement of One Government National Portal where any one can check the name of Contractors, their Class and their works / experience. These Contractors should be registered Category wise in this Centralized Registration Department. more

@Bhat , yes we need centralised data of contractors but more than that we need centralised registration which will acceptable to all departments and in all states . more
THE STATE GOVERNMENTS ARE NOT STILL OPTING TO FOLLOW OR COMPLY WITH THE WELFARE BENEFITS OR EVEN OTHER DISCIPLINE POLICIES OF THE CENTRAL GOVERNMENT. SINCE THE RECOGNITION / APPOINTMENT OF CONTRACTORS DEPENDS ON VARIOUS ISSUES LINKED WITH STATE GOVERNMENT INTERESTS , IT ALSO BECOMES AN ANOTHER ISSUE FOR THE NEEDED ACCEPTANCE BETWEEN BOTH . WE ARE ALL AWAITING THE DEMOCRATIC FRUITS THROUGH THE CENTRE - STATE CO-ORDINATION MEETING WHICH WAS ADJOURNED AND TO BE STILL ARRIVE FINALISATION. more
http://tenders.gov.in/ is catering to the above needs to certain extent. The same could be expanded for consolidating contractors from various organizations, central to village level, as a central database. A dynamic rating system both for the contractor and the organization would help improve the quality of service mutually. more
This also one way to control black listed companies won't get contracts in new projects. more
This is true and I wonder every department like PWD, State electricity board, Railways had there own fees for registration. Why this is like that. There should be single portal and when India had its most revenue from service sector. more
