MLAs ditching their party

As soon as Elections are announced the MLAs start hopping from their party to other party. Election Commission needs to frame rules for such party hoppers.
It is suggested that there should be a cooling off period of 5 years (one term) before they are allowed to contest election.

Defection by legislators amounts to betrayal of the peoples mandate and it undermine the stability of country. The political corruption in India has led to politics becoming a business people change parties for making money and retaining money through power. The issues plaguing the elections / politics are to be solved urgently. The CEC electoral reform proposals are pending with government. National politics has become complex with the participation and of Regional parties coming to national level with two agendas one for state and one central. The anti defection law of 1985 and 2003 with constitutional amendments has not solved problems. Politicians are updating their crooked ideas, accordingly the constitution requires amendments. The idea floated that there should be a cooling off period of 5 years (one term) before the defected politician is allowed to contest election will definitely one step to stop the political corruption. It is suggested this most important matter is to be taken up by local circles with CEC and government. The country development depends on political stability. more
What about the headless chickens who vote in Elections. They are the one who can rot out this evil of opportunism. And like I said if only they had a head on their shoulders more
This applies to many so called educated people in this country who vote for crooks and call themselves enlightened. The sooner this hypocrisy is exposed the better for this country which has no democratic system in practice .grabbers and looters are supported. God save this country. more
This is a good suggestion but whether the Election Commission is empowered to do that. more
Yes, but it requires guts to implement. more
Election commission must look into this matter seriously and take action more
In agreement with Mr. Pande. After the announcement of election dates no defection should be allowed. The parties should be barred from accepting any defector into their fold , more
