Misuse of PayTM
MISUSE OF PAYTM BY SHOPKEEPER IN MATUNGA EAST
This has started happening to a lady customer and everyone should be careful about using paytm or any mobile wallet app. She was transferring some amount to Cheddha stores in Matunga East (Mumbai) after a purchase on 7th Dec at 8 pm She was asked to scan the QR code pasted in the reception. She did it but they said ' no madam the amount has not been transferred'. On further investigation she found out that they had deliberately given the QR code of a different phone number and checking the transaction on a diff phone number. She knew everything and literally caught them red handed. They were totally shaken when she literally grabbed the mobile and scanned a different QR code and proved to them that they were trying to cheat. When she called the phone number mentioned below the QR code a different phone rang. Other customers behind her who were less knowledgeable were astounded by this. I would request all users of paytm to scan the QR code of the mobile in their possession and NOT what is displayed. Also check the phone number below the QR code. Dial this number to verify that the said phone is ringing. This type of fraud can happen to you in taxis, shops or anywhere else. Please forward to all your friends and people to make them aware of the digital India and how they can get cheated.

Such e-wallet companies are itself a mystery. Their physical presence is no where available. They are in the clouds rather. To lodge grievances and expect relevant answers is matter of luck rather than surety. They should have physical offices and dedicated helpline numbers to address grievances and to gain customer confidence. Otherwise e fraud will have the last laugh. more

Its not the Service provider or the system is corrupt its again the same person who was corrupt altogether trying to use new means of corruption. All we can do is make others aware and beware of such fraudulent. more

Such incidents are deterrent to proliferation of eWallets. Hope eWallet companies take note of this and come up with way of securing the transaction, such as initiating a two way confirmation. If this is really true, strict action must be initiated against such people more

The Service and instrument providers shall not only explain , but also handover a copy of Instructions to use without which , many will loose and there will be much misuse and reback . more
