MCDs haven't spent money

The local BJP politicians are equally at fault as the Delhi Govt. The Municipal Corporations were unable to utilise funds allocated under the Centre’s Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) with the NDMC “failing” to spend a single penny out of the Rs. 46.28 crore allocated to it, as per a recent study. South MCD spent 0.25% of the total money.

According to Delhi Citizens’ Handbook 2016, North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) received Rs. 46.28 crore under the SBM for 2015-16, but the civic body could not spend a single amount and the entire corpus of these funds is “lying unutilised”.

Similarly, South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) managed to only spend 0.25 per cent out of the total received amount of Rs. 31.63 crore. more

Blaming the MCD and other civic bodies is one thing, but what have the citizens themselves done in making the civic bodies to do their work honestly. Just cleaning up our house and throwing the garbage on the roads will certainly not help the Swach Bharat mission. We the citizens have to take responsibility to see that the civic bodies do their work honestly and efficiently. The least we can do is apart from keeping our house and society premises clean, we should also see that at least our surrounding areas are clean. If the garbage is not being lifted every day, if the drains outside are clogged and overflowing, the pavements, roads and other public places are encroached upon by shops, slums etc, we should complain to the authorities again and again till they take action If still no action is taken, we can complain through the social media like the facebook, twitter and also to the Media via Newspaper, TV. The RWA bodies can also complain directly to the PMO to take immediate action. more
We are at the mercy of politicians who do nothing as most of them are not effected good at talking. We citizens also do nothing .. at least complain. Good Mala you are at least raising your voice. more
