MCD building safety audit

I know the subject raised by localcircles is very apt when it comes to earth quake safety but I strongly fee that this cannot be handled by MCDs and half of Delhi have MCD people in their pockets.

Should Delhi have a strong disaster management department which does building safety audit and the audit should be to let people know what to expect. It should be free of cost and no commercial transaction like its with mcd.

Others have a viewz? more

M'CD officials who give NO C for buildings must be qualified technical persons. And they must be directly responsible.Safety audit is must for every bldg. By passing must be punishable both officer and bldg owner. MCD must have safety deptt having qualified technical team who educate public and act smartly. more
I agree MCD should not be given the responsibility. Most of them are corrupt. more
LG must initiate teo audits 1) Unauthprized structures raised on DDA flats and role of TEAs and of MCD officers. 2) Safety of all buildings. The structures are being raised without caring norms and basic structure/strength of foundation/walls etc.No care for environment more
I agree that an agency is needed for Building Safety audit. But I also feel that if someone can be bought,..... so why not buy the disaster management department officials? The solution lies in proper regulations for construction of buildings meeting required earthquake standards. Then during construction itself the standards adopted must be verified. Those who are responsible for verification of these standards, have to take full responsibility and if the buildings fil, it is these people, so-called experts, who should get punished. No benefits no pension, n salaries, etc. and jail terms are needed. more
