95% percent of mangoes in delhi are ripened using calcium carbides which is likely to cause cancer. FSSI had done precious little to bring about the awareness among the massess,across length & breadth of the country,where MANGOES r grown,packed to ripen at the destination of their SALE.The producers is the just RIGHT point,where the FSSAI can,ENFORCE replacement/alternative to CALCIUM CARBIDE.If they r so concerned about it &have no alternative to it..then, FSSAI got no moral/legal right to shout about it...Does it know its inception& its mandate,it was created for..The agent of initiating Ripening of fruits remains same i.e ETHTHELENE gas,The blame game on CALCIUM CARBIDE is its own production makes it prone to be contaminated by Arsenic & traces of this contaminants could be carcinogenic...hence the hue & cry about poor...odd smelling...CALCIUM CARBIDE.A concentration of 20-200 micro liter of ETHELENE gas,kept ina enclosed roome sealed,& about 60% of its capcity( Volume) packed with fruits intended to be ripened,r subjected to this level of ETHELENE gas foe 24-48 hrs.Ensuring the level of CARBON DIOXIDE gas not get exceeded by 01%, to prevent retardation of RIPENING of Intended unripe FRUITS to RIPEN. more

60 years back also this was the practice. Which medical study proved that this method causes Cancer . Please attach this study or withdraw such discussion . more

PEACE AND LOVE. it is so confusing with many experts giving different opinions. In a way I am being selfish I wont eat mangoes this season. more
