Mandatory declaration of nutrition value

Can we please get FSSAI to make a new rule where all fast food products (burger, shake, cold coffee, fries) have to mandatorily declare nutrition value on the wrappper, glass, container of the product.

Most consumer in India are ignorant people and atleast such disclosures will lead to people thinking before consuming.

FSSAI CEO please respond. We know you are in the circle and this is an important issue. Not worth ignoring. more

Though it is desirable to have nutritional values of all food products we consume whether it packaged,Loose or Snacks or restaurant food but question arises for its authentication as most of the values on packaged food labels are incomplete and false as the Food Laboratories do not analyse it and it is useless at this juncture. However, FSSAI has already taken an initiative to put nutritional values on fast food that has been voluntarily started by few of MNC and made mandatory declaration on fountain drinks, Loose Milk containers and ice-cream parlour through display boards. It is unfortunate that existing rulea for mandatory display of OILS being used by eateries has not been noticed by any public and even by Food Authorities. more
who will vouch for the nutrition value ? Say Coke writes down all nutrition data maintaining their products are nutritious..what then ?? Atleast it has to be a reputed third party agency certification, tested periodically more
I strongly support this idea for giving nutritive value of fast food products. more
Not only for select few but FASSAI should make it mandatory for all consumables most of which are produced in unhygienic conditions by unscrupulous businessmen having fake licences. The inspection of such products at manufacturing and retail end should be increased like USFDA. more
That will be a new thrust in the consumer demand and conscientization of what they eat . But it will be a laborious process for the Restaurant / Eatery stall prepare a huge list and put up on the walls . It will have to replace the long list of available Fast Foods and the variations they offer . Big hotels do give a gist of the ingredients and how cooked [boiled , fried deep or light , steamed etc. ]for the consumers information. I am not sure whether to support this new thought . As it is the letters are in very small print in the labels . Though the traders are supposed to offer a magnifying glass on demand , wonder how many have made use of . A small miniscule of % of the consumer looks at the manufacture / Use before dates . At least some read the price . more
