Large Housing Projects: Environmental Regulation

Governments at Centre, States and Local Civic Bodies in large cities should consider incorporating the following conditions while granting building approval of large housing complexes and townships:
1. Providing Roof Top Solar Power Plant and its connection to Electricity Supplier through Net Metering should be mandatory.
2. Installation of Rain Water Harvesting system through percolating pits should be mandatory.
3. Construction of a separate Shed for treatment of wet garbage through a Automatic or Semi-automatic waste conversion machine should be compulsory.

Providing these facilities at the design stage of a housing complex will be cost effective.
This will reduce the carbon footprint of such projects and make them environmentally sustainable.
Just to give an idea 1 Kwh (One Unit) of Solar power is equivalent to 0.95 Kg of Carbon Dioxide emission from a coal burning power plant. more

These should be implemented strictly without any dilution more
Good suggestions for approving authority. more
Agree with Mohit. We do not have a standard protocol while approving buildings and societies. Rain harvesting, solor power, Garbage disposal, parking facility and some greenery around the site is a must and should be mandatory. We have missed these rule based development in the past and it is time that we change for a better future. more
Good suggestions but implementation will certainly increase the prices of plats/houses further, which are already sky rocketing. more
