low platelets count
Any advice on how to treat low platelets count? I have low platelets count for the last 15 years, tried few Ayurvedic doctors but did not get any positive results. more

This is a condition where the platelets are destroyed due to several causes . so it is essential to know the causes of destruction like, Leukemia, Some types of anemia, Viral infections such as Dengu , Chickengunya ,hepatitis C or HIV , Chemotherapy drugs, Heavy alcohol consumption If due to the last reason , give up . Chemo therapy and treatment for Viral infection wait till treatment over , or in between treatment take diet rich in the required nutrients : Diet to improve Platelets . Papaya. As far as foods to increase platelets go, you can't do better than papaya. ...[available in tablet form in pharmacies – Caripill] Pomegranate. Pomegranate is another great fruit you can eat to increase platelets. ... *Vitamin A-rich foods. .. Vit A rich foods . Mostly non veg , liver ,fish , Greens in general , lettuce , turnip leaves , radish leaves . *Folate-rich foods. ... Egg , greens , Legumes like grains , chick peas beans , citrus fruits . *Vitamin K-rich foods. ... Kale , turnip , Spinnach and greens . *Bone soups. The above was followed by wife when down with Dengu fever in November . There was a marked improvement o platelets from 182 to 262, RBC’s from 4,100 to 6,900 , haemoglobin from 11 to 12.2. in 6 weeks. All pains and tired feeling gradually vanishing . THERE IS A GROUP OF VEGETABLE THAT CONTAINS AT LEAST 3 OF THE REQUIRED NUTRIENTS, VIT A, VIT K, FOLATE . THEY ARE GREENS ,THE NEXT IS EGGS AND MILK . The life span of platelets are just 10 days . New platelets are being produced in bone marrow . AT the first instance, one should know the reason for the low platelet counts as stated by Chander Gupta. Without a proper diagnosis the problem cannot be resolved completely. Further, as suggested by Sunil Guptaji Papaya leaves have been recommended to be used in cases of Dengue which causes in very steep fall of platelet count very fast. In fact, hospitals in Chennai have been distributing this juice at hospitals to patients affected by Dengue.
