LOCKDOWN protocols for Build Societies.
Building Society Management must ensure that all the residents are protected from the virus entering into their respective societies and homes/apartments.
Many societies have banned Couriers from entering the society which can viewed as a positive step to halting the spread of the virus into the Building Society.
However, there are great and dangerous flaws in this procedure.
1. Couriers / Delivery persons can be very easily made to wear masks and have their hands sanitized when entering the society. Many courier companies are testing their couriers for the virus and so they can provide, if needed, up to date lab test results to prove their negative status.
Residents are much more difficult to screen and have sanitation rules enforced whereas couriers are more easily controlled.
Doorstep delivery ‘must’ be enforced to allow residents to stay inside their homes and only leave for an absolute emergency – therefore allowing them to adhere to our Prime Minister’s order to remain indoors.
2. However, residents are allowed to drive in and out without proper screening and proper virus protection devices such as masks etc. This is claimed to be for daily shopping / medical supplies, yet all of these can be procured online without risking family members going out of the compound without accountability of where they are going and what protection they have used.
What to speak of vehicle tires bringing the virus inside the compound. This is a stark reality of our country which has a sizable number of the population spitting and clearing their noses on the road.
3. Gas couriers are allowed inside without proper screening because the gas bottles are too heavy to be carried by residents.
4. Because Societies have banned courier entrance the residents are being forced to leave their front doors no matter what their circumstances are and against the order of our Prime Minister to not leave our homes – in to pick up deliveries and/or drop off rubbish because the society no longer provides doorstep rubbish collection.
5. Dog walkers are allowed to walk their dogs in the compound driveways and use the lifts without proving that they are properly sterilizing their dog’s paws, pelts and noses. Dogs sniff and lick many surfaces included roadways where people spit.
Dogs can be trained to do their bathroom on balconies or inside the home and the owners can play with them inside or use the stairs for exercise.
6. Residents are ‘assuming’ that inside their compound up to and including the main gate is actually their doorstep and that they are safe. So exercises / chatting and dog walking is commonplace.
7. Unless there is stringent enforcement of such rules and regulation how are we to stop this virus from infecting members of our Building Societies?
All it takes is one uncontrolled irresponsible resident to bring the infection inside their home to place all other residents at risk.
The health and safety of the greater number of residents must prevail over the few who have chosen to leave their homes for non-essential reasons.
As we know people in general the world over, have not taken the virulence of this Covid-19 virus seriously. They are going out onto the street or driving around just to ‘see’ what is happening or to do unnecessary shopping or visiting friends.
The virus has only just reared it demoniac face in our country, we must all strive together and support each other at this time of national crisis or like a forest fire it will burn through our land.
We must also support our Government and PM who are doing their very best to contain the spread and ensure the best treatment of the victims - by doing the same. STAY IN YOUR HOMES!!!
I would like to take this time to offer my humble pranams to our brave Police Officers and Medical staff who are risking their lives on the front line of defence against this threat.
And of course, the shop keepers, online sellers and the mighty couriers who are all doing their best to make us push through this national calamity.
One last point… the Government should ensure that E Commerce including courier services should be up and running. Couriers can work and they can be monitored for virus compliance, this can include essential and non-essential goods. more
