I don't know the technical details but a good idea ... Let us begin with smaller projects like interlinking Sharda Gomti Ghagra and rivers of Peninsular India ... Thought must be given to creating an East-West Canal so the waters of the Brahmaputra can be brought to the Western and Southern parts of India ... more
As I said no electricity should be used to flow water then how it can achieved .....construct a canal from big river to small river and use the flow of water from big river's Dam....for eg Ganga has some dam as well as water round the year ..so whenever small river want water Ganga's Dam will flow the water just like a canal. more
Thank u! Padma Kumar, Yusuf and Mahendra..... more
Linking of river is good but it should work without electricity. Use mechanical flow to transfer water from one river to another river. it should not like Kshipra and Narmada in MP link where per day electricity charges is 50,000 or more. more
Further to my earlier comments: the baseline criteria of linking rivers can be- - optimum utilization of water resources with the ultimatum of allowing no inlandwater to reach the oceans ( freshwater seawater ecosystem at estuaries/ river sea mouths to be considered). - making water flow to and through rocky areas/ very hot areas would increase evaporation wastages. - Keeping the seawater out of groundwater in coastal areas when water flow is lowered or cut out completely. - individual and community agreements in new water areas to allow riperean states to be give priority in times of drought. - earth stability and core chemical changes may be altered in regions which has never seen water. - advantages of a river transport sytem, eventhough this is unlikely as seen in Punjab or other canal states. - impact on rare species with the altered ecosystem of checkdams, lift canals, etc. thanks more
