Lifts Act of UP
Is there a lifts act now in the state of Uttar Pradesh? Lifts are being used in so many places esp in noida, greater noida ghaziabad but what defines the standard of what a lift should do and whats the meaning of safety. When should a lift be removed or called defunct.
If lift act is not there, can the local circles with its affiliation with consumer dept help in the formulation of lifts act. more

There appears to be NO lift act in Uttar Pardesh plus NO lifts are authorised in approved plans for Buildings based on G plus 3 Floors in Group Housing Societies as NO specific drawing Space is made available nor Promoter has given out in Sale deed, hence all permission granted by LDA authorities are contrary to Law of land. Hence lift Installed are based on" Jogard" . There fore, there is need of Authority for implementation of Checks & Balance to ensure correct pattern of Lifts are installed based on paramount Safety of Human Life more

UP Government should take a call at the earliest and frame the rules as per modern requirements. This should be put under a single department pan Uttar Pradesh for effective implementation. more

Uttar Pradesh does not have a law to regulate installation, operation and maintenance of elevators. ... The Ghaziabad development authority in March, 2013 adopted provisions of the Lifts Act from states like Delhi and Gujarat and had sent a proposal to the state government to frame a law for the state. more
