lack of parts with the authorized service centres

I endorse Ramamani’s views. Besides this I have experienced lack of parts with the authorized service centres.
In my Vento fuel injector had to be replaced. It took more than a week to get. A rear windshield had to be replaced. It took almost 10 days. I requested for less expensive windshield without defogger but I was told that once they input the serial number of car, I cannot get any other part than what is meant for that car. How can this be? Defogger is never used, then why should it be compulsory?
Almost 7 year old Honda City recently had fuel pump problem. Cannot find pump in market. Authorized service centre in Madurai took 7+ days to get the part for replacement.
Jetta had one window control switch problem. I had to buy very expensive full control unit with all 4 switches to replace one switch. Again had to wait for more than a month.
Hyundai radiator cap was missing so I went to Hyundai service centre to purchase one. He refused to give me until I give the vehicle serial number!
Should not minimum spares worth at least one car be maintained by each service centre? Or there should be at least one spare part stock centre in each city for each manufacturer to provide quick service.
Why should sale of parts be so tightly controlled by manufacturers? Why cannot they sale parts to anyone who want to buy genuine part and repair his vehicle by third party experts or himself?
There should be some standards set for these manufacturers and strictly monitored for compliance. more

That is the difficulty of foreign product. more
You may file a case against the manufacturer for his lapse in this product and the customers are unnecessarily penalized like this may be avoided by it. more
As cars in a country like ours are still symbolic to status and this will still take a while to fade away...the dealers, service centers and the middle men are making merry. But gentlemen I would like to say that there are always better garages than the company authorised service centre in each city. Only one needs to search for them through our informal grapevine. As we do for a second or third opinion for a Doctor so one can do for a car if expensive repairs are advised or when you assume something is fishy. My experience with servicing cars even in the Middle East & USA is the same like here, the authorised one's are not to be taken as the genuine one's. Their upkeep & maintenance charges are higher & consumers have to bear that cost. So lets be ware. There are many online and offline sources to get most genuine or oem parts. more
My Ford Fusion has at least one part falling off (by itself) every month. And parts available @ Rs 1600/- for a Rs 16/- part. They are making sure that you provide them a steady income! more
How easy was our life when Ambassadors, and Premier Padmini ruled the roads? anybody with a spanner and a hammer would set it right; now the modern technology has made our life miserable; everything inside a car comes with sensors and is totally computerized, and no one dare touch it manually; The car manufacturers take the customers for a ride; the price for replacements we are paying is not for the material alone used but for the warranty that comes along with that; add to that an exorbitant amount towards labour and other service charges; The International Car Makers - you name anyone - charge heavily for the maintenance of the vehicle; and most of the service charges are hidden or over priced; the best option would be to go for bumper-to-bumper insurance; that might save us expenses considerably; more
