Internet Booking Charges are unauthorised
No portal paytm, bookmyshow or whatever else is permitted to charge handling or internet booking charges by the RBI disclosed via an RTI recently. Reply of RBI is attached
Anyone can file an RTI for all such RBI regulated entities by visiting https://rbi.org.in/scripts/complaints.aspx.
To report a violation by a merchant, one will have to approach the specific bank that was used by the merchant to make the transaction. It further said that if the bank fails to take action within 30 days or the bank’s response is not satisfactory, the concerned customer can approach the Banking Ombudsman. more

Appreciate your finding out through an RTI from the RBI regarding the so called "convenience charges". I guess what one can get away with sets the norm for charging customers reposing faith in such portals. Started of course by multiplex portals who charge hefty convenience charges. PayTM makes one pay cancellation security charges, apart from internet booking charges for movie tickets of Rs.70 per ticket, should customer cancel ticket, which is free from the actual vendor, PVR cinemas, ! Empirical evidence is that if 1 to 2% cancel, then this way 100% have to pay 20% extra!! And that too, if cancellation is over 3 hours before the show for refund to be effected minus, of course this "security" and "convenience" fee. Ingenuity in inventing new ways of making customers pay, is what technology is being used for equally. more

Since Corruption is very much prevelant in this Country,most of the people are not scarred of law and punishment.More over courts are over crowded with pending cases many a people have lost hopes with the courts. more

I recently made a flight booking on 'Cleartrip' and for payment through net banking, an additional charge was levied. In this situation I cannot take up this issue with the bank. Once the ticket is booked, a breakup of such charge is not available, for taking up with RBI. Any suggestions ?? more
