Domestic Airport at Jammu Tawi Jammu Tawi airport is quite different from all other airports in India for the reasons: You 1. Can not take your vehicle inside the airport unless you have taken a prior permission from police ( which you can not do if you are coming from far off place) 2. Can not park your vehicle outside airport while coming for passenger pick up. You need to park it away from airport at private parking. 3. Need your baggage screened by police at the airport compound entry gate, airport building entry gate and then by the airline on which you are traveling. 4. Are not allowed to enter the airport building unless 2 hours prior to ETD. 5. Not allowed to carry hand baggage except medicines/laptop and lady’s purse due to security reasons (but you may see some police personnel carrying big suitcases as cabin baggage.) 6. After screening medicine bag or purse through scanner, need to empty it the table in front of policeman who will stamp and sign the tag. 7. While boarding the flight, passengers are sometimes forced to walk across other aircrafts. I understand the other safety/security concerns such as the need to identify your check in baggage after security check and get yourself checked by airline security prior to boarding the flights but points 1 to 7 above can be revisited and ensured that passengers are not put to hardships simply because it is easy going for the police follow this routine more

Air India should be an efficient airline with rationalisation of air routes. We need not run loss making routes but have tie ups with other airlines to make these sectors viable. more

1) maintenance of airport terminals e.g. cleanliness, assistance to outsiders both in form of domestic/international travelers 2) few of the changes must be done away to increase the influx of travelers e.g. slashing ATF taxes, kind of controlling mechanism applicable to airlines on fare setting 3) more smaller airports to be developed & connectivity to be extended to them 4) AI must be overhauled in terms of management/operations as it is draining public exchequer more
