I am a Tourit Guide providing services to various Travel Companies from Delhi all over North India. My annual turnover is below Rs. 20 Lakhs. Do I need to register myself under GST? As many Travel Companies are treating guides as vendors and insisting on GST registration number. more

Thanks for two contradictory answers... companies are demanding that we register for GST... Since our job involves lots of travel, how can the Govet. expect us to file the monthly returns on time. That would mean we would have to stop work for those dates every month which in turn means we have to refuse work because teh details have to be uploaded and tax paid. more
You are legally not liable unless you provide services to companies located in other state. Your companies also do not have real financial impact. They are insisting on registration just from view point of easing their internal process.
However if you are providing services to companies located in other state then you are required to be registered irrespective of your turnover. more

However, many companies would be more comfortable if you are GST registered and charge GST more
You are not supposed to register as your total turnover is less than 20 LAKH. You can give them a declaration that you are not registered. Travel company will pay service tax and take credit of the tax paid. They can not recover or adjust tax amount from your fees. more
