How to report/ file complaint for obscene messages received on Whatsapp

My spouse has been receiving obscene messages on whatsapp from two unknown numbers on whatsapp since last few days. She spoke to Delhi Police Helpline No. 1069 to file a complaint but was informed that since this comes under IT regulations, she will have to give a written complaint to the concerned dept. Can anybody guide on what would be an appropriate step without involving much harassment? more

1091 (Parivartan-Women's helpline) can be contacted. They listen to the complaints patiently (most of the time) and then also call to take feed back, after few days. more

Liked the comment from Mr Surjit Singh :go with the presumption nothing will happen... It's such a telling comment on the times we live in!! One would have thought we have progressed from the days of being hunters and gatherers....but seems little may actually have changed. more

Don't ever bank on authorities for any action. Self protection is the only way to go. As someone has already suggested, block the number. Whatsapp gives you that option. more

use an app named true caller, you will be able to trace the owner of the number. Helps in identifying the miscreants. more
