How Service Charge is reversed

While my husband has already shared concerns about water and coke mrp violation by pizza express, it is also an example of how one can stand against service charge.

If you study out invoice closely you can see how they have reversed service charge of 165 rupees.

Everyone should very firmly tell restaurant manager this service charge is thing of past and you need to remove. We obviously tipped in cash for good service. more

May be it is better to ask the concerned(Manager etc)"Are they charging service charge" and decide to go in or not. If many people go back those people may realise. After billing they are stronger. more

Yes, indeed, the message is quite clear. When breaking or not abiding by the rules becomes part of the psyche, rectification tends to be a relatively slow process. This is exactly what is happening. Restaurants continue to levy service charge, get away with it if customer keeps quiet. However, they also unhesitatingly credit the amount if objection is raised. What was that slogan, "Jaago Grahak Jaago"? more

It does not always work like this Maam. At a restaurant in Mumbai when I pointed out the same to them they adamantly refused to comply and said they would call the police. I was not sure whether the police were also involved. This is because I asked the Local Circles Manager to send me the notice so that I could take a print out as I am not able to print from the url sent by them. We were forced to pay the service charge as it became embarrassing for my family!!! So much for government orders. more
