A former Delhi University teacher, who had once been guardian angel to the famous, is in desperate poverty even though the university owes her about Rs.2 crore. But it won't pay because it has lost the file on her service record. Tara Balgopal, a former reader, who taught English at Rajdhani College - she figures in the college's 'Hall of Fame' - and was assistant director at the department of correspondence courses is said to be starving, and banks on handouts from friends to get by. A court case she has been fighting to get her dues has gone on for ten years. Among her students at her dance class was a young Hema Malini - apart from being an English teacher Tara was an accomplished Kathak and Bharatanatyam dancer. She says she performed in Parliament in 1960 and her photograph was on a postal stamp that was released in 1962. more

The admin of this forum must take this matter to HRD minister Mrs Irani or to Hema Malini so that justice is made to such a great person. If BJP does not help in such cases it does not have moral to say it a national party. However it can verify the case, that what ever is mentioned above is true & right, before taking it over. more
