There are many herbal and health supplement products that sell at pharmacy stores without much checking. They promise sports, vitality performance increase, etc. Do they come under FSSAI. Who monitors? I think some pharmacies just buy these products and display them upfront as margin is very very high. more
So long as the need for short cuts to good health and strength and vitality are there, so also this lure in the Pharmacies will remain. It is difficult to keep track of the OTC products, as they will reappear in a different pack/brand. The Buyer has to be his own judge more

You have hit the nail on the head, Sujata....Health supplements and other 'wonder foods' are now sold through Pharmacies also, since pharmacies are frequented by the sick themselves or their near ones. The salespersons in these pharmacies or medical stores do not fail to drop a 'hint' about the good effects of the supplements or wonder foods to the clients who come inside to get their medicines. In fact, I am well aware of some Health supplements manufacturers who retail thro Pharma stores by offering additional discounts to GAIN MARKET CREDIBILITY. We do not have a FDA type body in India and all these matters are to be under the purview of either the State Govt's Health Inspectors or FSSAI. Neither body is pro active and are far away from market realities. more
Very genuine concern raised by Sujataji. In Delhi, duplicates of all well-known brands are forged in terms of packing & labeling. However active Network marketeers do inform their client groups to refrain from falling for such counterfeits. Only the supplements available at manufacturer owned stores & their company websites are genuine. Moreover only the original sources give money back guarantee on used products. Can the pharmacies do that? more
