Health Workers

Sharing about my daughter working as a Doctor in a Corporate Hospital and tested positive after treating critically sick Corona patients in ICU of local ESI Hospital where she was deputed. She was excited to complete her tenure there successfully with zero casualties. But for own case, she had to run around personally and got herself tested after paying for it. Got medicines from the local market and managing her self as per protocol under Hospital. Preferred to stay at home rather than the hospital as symptoms are mild still. Local Surveillance officer has got pasted notice of 28 days quarantine. Somewhere Health workers are also under stress that if they are infected there is no effective support system available to them unfortunately and this may be a demoralising factor. All myth about Corona Warriors gets broken when reality comes. Health workers have made their own Self Help Groups which may not be enough as one do require testing and treatment. more

In times like these, when the health workers are being praised to unreachable heights by the government including the PM for their selfless sacrifices, it is really pathetic that a certain hospital should abandon their own health worker staff in times of their need. All the more incredible that the hospital has got their own "protocol" for such cases. How contradictory and how paradoxical can it be? I feel, someone responsible should look into this matter seriously. more
When a Dr or a health worker becomes a patient, he/ she is simply a patient and should get the treatment/care meant for patients..we need to improve on the system.. more
Well said Mr. Das , adhering to the Hippocrates oath , if the hospitals havent forgotten or have just have haung the oath on the wall without reading . more
The Skeleton of Indian govt health system is clearly visible. While it is told that so and so Govt is testing / treating etc etc, all bogus. People are left to their self arranged private hospital treatment. Govt hospitals and testing is only in media story. more
Sorry for the situation of your daughter. You are right the healthcare workers, crisis or not, must be looked after properly. Their safety and health must be of primary concern especially in situations like this. Not only for infection control equipment, training and protocols for their service, but also free checks and treatment, accommodation allowances or in house accommodation during crisis with full service. This the GOI must look into seriously for the future of health services. more
Wish your daughter a speedy recovery. There is some one in the system who is not performing his role. Very unfortunate. more
