GST Unclear

I am a layman and have the following query/complaint:

1. I purchased an item having MRP Rupees 3500/-. Got 25% discount. I was charged GST on MRP that is Rupees 3500/-.

2. Purchased items online quoted price was 470/-. The seller charged me GST on Rupees 470/-.

Recently I watched a video where a lady is explaining that MRP is inclusive of GST. If she is right then why these vendors are looting and why the government is not auditing and penalizing them. more

Yes we have seen some unscruplous shopkeepers making ride on common man in the name of GST when MRP is inclusive of all, then he cannot charge anything over it !! if discount given then he has to levy MRP on reduced amount which is inclusive of all or in other words the same MRP need to split with net amt & gst. This is the correct way of charging !! more
Exactly my point Mr. Sharma, people are being taken for a ride I dont know what credit point is.. how you can claim back etc... Very poor implementation and mess up of different slab rates When in this country shopkeeper makes bakra of common man, GST is a tool in their hand to further exploit.... Just an example in my office canteen , I bought an omelette for 20 rs, my vendor gave me a bill showing 12% GST and charging 3 Rs GST for an omelette I took the bill just to show my colleagues one of the smart guys found out that the vendor has just printed some GST no. in the bill its supposed to be alpha numeric and all... Even if its alpha numeric who knows its genuine First bring fear in shopkeepers that if they trick people they will be penalised heavily like in western countries or how IT raids are conducted on defaulters, the fear of law then implement GST and so many slabs... more
Agree. Thanks. more
The traders are looting because they are too greedy devoid of morals and ethics. Added to that, the common public have not yet got acquainted with the GST structure. Added to that, the Government officers are not ready to take necessary action on the traders. Once every purchaser becomes familiar with the GST structure and he knows the COMPLAINT / GRIEVANCE mechanism there would be some improvement. more
I hope it gets so. more
This cannot be corrected by simply knowing this. My wife had a unique experience. She being a teacher went to Kodaikanal on an excursion tour with her students from a public school. The shop keeper there in Kodaikanal refused to accept her Rs 2000/- note stating that it was fake. Later she came to know from there that there are fake currency notes of Rs 2000/- in rampant circulation so people are avoiding it. In case of GST issues mentioned above we should have a local support system who can come to the shop and sort out the issue then and there itself then only it can be fixed. Thanks more
It would be better to use cashless system such as Bhim app or cards, which can take care of fake currency as well as theft and robbery. It is better if businessmen accept the cashless system. more
