Bicycle will attract a GST rate of 12%, but diamonds will attract only 0.25%. At a time when people aren't able to afford petrol & the poor are forced to commute on cycles, the govt charges 12% GST of cycles but the rich can now buy diamonds for 0.25%
This needs to change. Will people raise their voices? more
I believe no one would have any objection, if GST rate is reduced on cycle and its parts. Cycle is used by people from all walks of life. For poor it is the most suitable means of transport and for rich it is an instrument of health. For middle class it is an alternative to motorized transport. If Govt. encourage cycling in the cities, it would not only reduce import bill on petrol, it would make people more healthy & happy with no time to spend in traffic congestions. . more
Everybody minds an increase in costs, Irrespective of Middle Class or Upper Class. We do not mind spending Rs. 1200 on a USELESS Pizza, but complain about rise in Petrol prices, which is anyway beyond our control. Who cares? more
If one start demanding reductions in each and every thing where will the government get the money for free vaccines, development works, defence upgrading etc more
How many people use cycles to commute? Staying in Bangalore I have not seen a single person using a cycle to commute except for a couple of rich people using cycle to reduce their weight and stay fit more
