I am working in 3 star hotel. Our hotel is having GST registration. I still have no idea about the GST website. I heard that 31/12/2017 is the last date of filing. We don't have interstate purchase, or interstate sales. Since it is a hotel GST is appliable to food, soda, soft drinks and room rent. Can anybody help me provide step by step procedure to file returns from August onwards? more
GST Return filing depends on the Annual Turnover limits and option of filing Monthly or Qtrly returns basd on above, so you made a mistake but there is a solution you can contact good s.tax consultant rather than auditor becos I presume socalled professionals sometime advise incorrectly, so pay very nominal penalty if tax is payable, if it is NIL tax no need to pay, it is very difficult to teach offline about return filing !! more
The return filing requirement under GST is filing of monthly return in GSTR 3B which determines the tax dues and requirement of remitting the amount under cash ledger and offsetting of Input Credit against your output liability. If there is any liability which you are require to settle as recipient of services then you are require to first pay the same to GST authorities and then claim the same as input credit (if eligible) in next month. Beside this, GSTR1 is also required to be filed for all the months. This helps GST authorities in determining the state wise tax for clearing purposes. While it is not very tough to discharge your obligations under GST, you may require assistance in understanding the Input Tax Credit and structuring your transactions for better efficiency and cost management under GST regime. The fine for late filing is Rs. 50/- per day under relevant act i.e. CGST / SGST and IGST (if there are transactions, not expected for hotel business, as the services gets completed within the same property) if there are tax liabilities else Rs. 20/- per day. Fine was Rs. 200/- per day for the period July and August. Hope this clarifies some of your thought. You can reach us at ksl2@rediffmail.com should you need any further information. Rgds more
@Jayaprakash, i would agree with Sakthi Dharan on thee suggestion. While it is not difficult to master the returns filing (pretty simple actually), it calls for systematic steps, which may be difficult for someone to teach you offline. Since there is anxiety on your part, the poassibility of making mistakes is quite high. Suggest consulting your hotel's auditor and filing the returns. There is a penalty for late submission starting from September and it will be for 29 days at the rate of Rs. 50/day (since you have non-zero returns). If I remember correctly, it will be for 2 months. I don't know if the information about 31/12/2017 is true. more
