FSSAI position on Pakistani Mango import

I had suggested that FSSAI ban import of Pakistani mangoes and if you are incapable of acting, please raise this issue with Commerce Ministry.

Per fruit vendors many of these mangoes are also artifically ripened and kept with ripening agents. Also Fyi they sell for 150-200 rupees.

I dont understand what benefit they serve other than may be profiteering for middle men and commissions for those facilitating. more

Pakistan is exporting salt too - Himalayan Salt / Pink Salt. more
If we have enough mango produce, why do we at all need to get them from a failed state? A state that freely exports drugs, terrorists, etc. We can simply improve our own products and sell internally apart from exporting. more
Not only Pakistani mangoes but the FSSAI/State Health Deptt. should check the use of hazardous chemicals used in ripening of fruits and increasing the size of vegetables to maximise profit at the cost of health of consumers. The corruption and non-accountability of officials have made every institution virtually non-functional. The politicians are hand in glove with the unscrupulous businessmen. The working of every department should be professionalised and linking salaries/promotion to performance to improve efficiency. more
Simple soltion stop eating these mangoes. more
Import will be there only if there is demand. If we stop buying import will also stop. We always look at at Government agencies to act but we do not act. Let us use consumer power. more
