Food Safety in Telangana - Inputs Sought

FSSAI (The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India ) has enabled a Food Safety circle available via -

We would like to seek your inputs on what are the various issues you see in regards to food safety in your city in Telangana. These could be in regards to packaged food, food product itself, restaurant hygiene levels, street food, adulteration, etc.

We would also look at how district food safety officials can be given access to the circle followed by a city level food safety/consumer circle in your city.

Raid curry points, roadside temporary ( staying for just 3-4 hours) way side food stalls in Posh areas in IT sector, Ameerpet, necklace road, tank bundmadapurm jubilee hills, Banjarahills to avert large scale food contamination .GHMC has failed so is the government .Food safety is neglected. more

Because of affordability and the non existence of middle level hotels, restaurants many young who are educated ,aware of fundamentals of hygiene continue to eat street food . Many posh areas including high tech city, Banjarahills, Jubilee Hills area with offices are places for temporary way side food stalls with canopy , benches ,stainless steel containers selling in two to three hours business worth thousand in each stall only to disappear after that.These mobile food servers cannot be regulated as they hold no permanent place to licence or responsibility towards food hygiene. Next all wine sellers and toddy compounds are surrounded by food carts and static stalls to serve the public who has a drink and bite next to shop.How do you regulate it . Another permanent feature is the busy paanipoori, juice carts ,next to university arch at DD colony selling all sorts of vegetable, fruit juices! With flasks in hand . How do you ensure this mobile dispensers of poison in the name of food service. Scores are suffering from Salmonella .claustridium deficile other gastronomic enteritis besides, hepatitis A , hepatitis B! Indian food standards cannot be controlled unless you remove this municipality control over them.They are 100% corruptNd waste of public money on these posts. A separate enforcement department with punitive powers is required to put a stop.Register all,check all, segregate all in to food parks to control them.Untill then we are crying in the wilderness! more

Hi, All street food vendors & restaurants should consider food safety as an important aspect of their business May be training them or bringing awareness among these food operators will help them to implement basic food safety FSSAI can form group of food safety auditors to accomplish this task ,as we dont have sufficient Food Inspector appointed by our authorities more

All most all fruits are being ripened artificially - this needs to be eradicated. Preservatives like coating on apples etc should also be eradicated. All sorts of Bad practices should be addressed like use of rotten meat by Hotels etc. Continuous cautioning as well as punishing with education is needed in this sector more

- A lot of juice places use rotting or bad food. - The same goes for places that sell fruit salads etc. - A lot of food places have no proper refrigeration and they keep old and rotting meat and vegetables. - Non of these places are shut down or taken to task. - The Commissioner of the Secunderabad cantonment was a smart, honest lady who shut down a couple of unhealthy, unhygienic and badly run restaurants. In no time at all she was shunted out to an insignificant post as punishment. That is the reality of India - only the corrupt survive and prosper. more
