Food handlers course and certification
The government must come out with a central food handler training and certification course , renewable every 3 years for all connected to food handling( from farmers to retail sellers of finished goods and food distributing agencies or transporters.

I think, the FSSAI is doing this exercise with the help of its FOOD SAFETY OFFICERS and conducting workshops on SAFE and NUTRITIOUS FOOD in Various CITIES. Pl Check at the web site of FSSAI more

Agriculture is a State Subject and the governments are supposed to frame rules for proper handling/storage/distribution of good grains/cash crops. All the Govt. institutions like FCI/CWC/State warehousing corporations have miserably failed to perform due to corruption, non-accountability and political interference. Millions of tons of food items is wasted due to unsafe storage, pilferage and theft with the connivance of officials of these Govt. institutions. But the staff members keep on getting salaries, DA, promotions and pensions for rendering this type of jobs. The Govt. should disband all these bodies and allow reputed private parties to handle procurement, storage/distribution at reduced cost for the benefit of farmers and the consumers. These companies should be asked to train the farmers/farm workers for better food handling at no extra cost to the exchequer. more

It's a GOOD Approach. Can be tackled from both Central or State Level. If it is a part of FSSAI certification need, to be handled by Centre and private training agencies can be approved for the same. The training organizations will also be approved for a period of say 3 years and will be renewed based on their performance and quality. If not part of FSSAI, it need to be done thru the Food & Health inspection dept at State Levels. more
