Ever mango is carbide ripened in Delhi right now
Do not buy the good look Ng mango boxes Delhi wallahs. Almost all the mangoes like alphanso safeda himayati etc are all carbide ripened. Only exception is Pairi mango which grows in Mumbai.
Also attached how carbide packet look like. You are bound to find them in all aplphanso boxes at the bottom beneath the paper.

What is the ill effect of carbide ripening. It seems there is no direct contact between the fruit and the chemical. more

Calcium Carbide produces acetylene gas when in contact with water. In this case with moisture in the air. This gas is used by gas welders and highly toxic and poisonous. When the mango is washed without wearing gloves , skin gets aberrations which may lead to skin cancers. I have seen many mangoes / fruit sellers having this problem . Please be aware more

Artificial ripening of fruits of all kinds are on the increase and the taste as well as the b befits of eating fruits is no longer good but sadly the govt body regulating and inspection of the fruit cultivators and wholesellers are hand in gloves and least bothered about health issues of consumers .Hope at least now the present govt wakes up to this malice and comes up with less potent fruit preservation and ripping drugs which will not affect boty the taste and health benefits of the fruits. more
