eCommerce Site shipping end of shelf life items

eCommerce sites are giving small discount and shipping products with 10% shelf life remaining. this is really bad. One of the major ecommerce sites just did it with me and it was not seller, their subsidiary shipped the product.

when we order food, we expect atleast 80-90% shelf life remaining or best just disclose it.

feels pathetic when you get the product and its got 10% shelf life remaining.

FSSAI and Consumer Affairs should come up with rule here and bar these guys from the food business if repeated violations occur. more

It is always give and take policy. We get discounts if we buy products from eCommerce sites. It is just because they pass on a part of the huge discount they get from manufacturers for expending their products nearing expiry dates. more
It will be appropriate if the members write something relevant and do not give comments just for the purpose of writing something. Perishable food items have a short shelf life and a major part of it may be spent in delivery etc. So one may avoid buying these from ecommerce companies. As long as this is mentioned on the product, any more "code of conduct" "punishment" "health hazard" etc. do not come in. Mr. Ramamani has mentioned the need to mention "date of expiry". He probably forgot that the remaining shelf life was noticed just because this "date of expiry was already marked. Just an example. more
