Grocery providers comes under service sector and there is no need to get them registered under FSSAI. more
Since e-commerce companies are intermediaries channelising products from the producers/manufacturers to the end users similar to our nearest retails outlets. As such, they need not necessary to get FSSAI certification. Thanks more
This is very new concept of e-commerce grocery providers. This will definitely helps to the people who are engaged in the professional for longer hours and/or covering remote distance to reach their destination. It may develop in the following ways: Dairy products and analogues, Fats, oils and fat emulsions Fruits and vegetable products Cereal and cereal products Meat and meat products Fish and fish products Sweets & confectionery Sweetening agents including honey Salt, spices, condiments and related products Beverages, (other than dairy and fruits & vegetables based) Other food product and ingredients Proprietary food Irradiation of food For precautionary purposes for the consumers, the following features are available provided by Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), autonomous unit of central government with the concept of JAGO GRAHAK JAGO: Helpline (fssai head office) Food Safety Voice FSSAI APP Email WhatsApp/SMS Facebook Twitter Formal representation Walk-in with prior appointment GAMA portal for concerns regarding misleading claims and advertisements. Now choice is the users. more
FSSAI is an organisation that has to maintain the Safety and Standards of all kinds of food items being prepared and sold within the country, and anybody who retails or help sale a product is inter alia responsible for advertising or help selling the food item with FSSAI certification/licence. Any entity that sells a packaged food item has got to have a FSSAI licence for the same and display the Nr on the package label as an information. Referring to amazon, grofer, bigbasket, naturesbasket, etc., they are as responsible as any person that advertises about the product being a form of sponsorship. more
In my understanding the fssai license is required only by the manufacturers of branded & prepared food/edible products in packaged form for sale/distribution through retail channels. more
