Duty on oxygen concentrator

A relative is trying to send oxygen concentrator from US. News says duty waived. But duty is still 36.64% as aginst 42.8% before exemption as per official calculator. Why is government not providing a full waiver? more

Yes what mr nair says is very much valid .Removing the custom duty in time of crisis like the present one for the life saving drugs and oxygen equipments at least for the next six months or till we are geared up to address the situation is what the govt should be doing and not dilly dallying by giving a meagre amount removal.Frankly all these life saving drugs either in the name of aatmanirbhar we need to manufacture for the world and also reduce duty for since it is a question of life and death. It is for the general public .When for the cricketers who could afford to pay taxes want a waiver this is more necessary in nations interest more
Recalling two famous cricketeers requesting GOI to waive off customs duty on high value cars they got as gifts. more
Govt instead of announcing duty waiver should tell clearly duty has been reduced to a particular value from the existing value which will be clear than making a statement saying customs duty removed unless they wanted to give a false impression to the common people that govt is acting . more
