Duststorm/Thunderstorm warning and do’s dont’s
Impact expected due to Duststorm/Thunderstorm, Lightning and Rain over Delhi & neighborhood areas:
1. Damage to vulnerable structures.
2. Damage to kutcha houses/walls and huts.
3. Traffic disruption on roads.
4. Occasional reduction in visibility.
5. Damage to plantations, horticulture and standing crops.
6. Loose objects very likely to fly.
Action suggested:
1. Stay indoors, close windows & doors and avoid travel if possible.
2. Take safe shelters; do not take shelter under trees.
3. Do not lie on concrete floors and do not lean against concrete walls.
4. Unplug electrical/ electronic appliances.
5. Immediately get out of water bodies.
6. Keep away from all the objects that conduct electricity.
7. Follow any traffic advisories that are issued in this regard. more

One should not use Mobile phones, when in open during thunder clouds because all mobile phones seek signals from nearby towers and are vulnerable to Lightning. So Be careful. more

These are some lucid, intelligent, and perspicuous suggestions to be followed in case of thunderstorms. Many people may recall how 4 gentlemen taking shelter under a tree in Gurgaon were hit by lightening. Many still don't know this and intuitively seek shelter wherever they can. We must make others aware of these suggestions for it may save their lives. One suggestion I'd like to add is - Avoid use of mobile phones in case you are in an open area during thunderstorm. more
