My father who is in late 60s has sugar in range of 120-130. has had it for last 6-7 years. Suddenly it seems to have dropped to 80 range.

Would anyone know what can be the driver? What should we get checked. more

A qualified physician should be consulted who will diagnose the underlying cause and advise proper treatment. It would be dangerous to do anything on the basis of advise that you may receive on this forum or on your search of internet. more
As Ashish suggested, get the blood profile tests, including HbA1c, done after taking a doctor's advise given his age. The guiding numbers generally followed are: Time of Check Blood glucose ranges Blood glucose ranges for people without diabetes for people with diabetes Before breakfast (fasting) < 100 70 - 130 Before lunch, supper and snack < 110 70 - 130 Two hours after meals < 140 < 180 Bedtime < 120 90- 150 HbA1c < 6% < 7% more
IN ADDITION TO THE ABOVE, SOME KIND OF SWEET/ICE CREAM/CANDY WHEN THE PATIENT FEELS UNEASINESS. more
Suggested to go for complete blood Haemogram with HbA1C profile and check for anaemia. more
