Disaster Management in India – Issues
1. Types of Disasters (Floods, Drought, Cyclone, Tsunami, Earthquake, Terrorist attacks, Riots, Medical epidemics, Stampedes at religious places)
2. People are not aware how to face disaster situations
3. Authorities are slow to react when disaster strikes
4. Not enough latest equipment to tackle the situation
5. Lack of disaster management teams in big cities to tackle natural calamities
6. During accidents local police fail to cordon the area of accident
7. Relief and rescue missions start long after a disaster, by that time many lives are lost
8. No quick sanctioning of disaster relief material
9. Adequate announcements are not made in disaster hit areas about the kind of relief being made available to the people more
