Cooking Gas Services – Key Issues
1.The billing of pipeline services in many parts of the country is not very transparent
2.Subsidy in many cases, does not get transferred to the beneficiary’s account
3.There are no SMS for the subsidy being deposited in that particular account either from the company or the bank
4.Often the LPG cylinders delivered are very rusted, old and dirty
5.Amount of gas in cylinders in less than what is mentioned on cylinders
6.Delivery boys do not carry a weighing scale with them
7.Delivery boys say no to carrying the cylinder to a high floor
8.Delivery of cylinders is often delayed
9.Delivery boys demand tips
10.Delivery boys do not have POS machines to accept payments through credit/debit cards
11.Meter Reader cannot take reading without going up to the kitchen, which becomes a security concern
12.Bills of the gas pipeline connections are not sent regularly
13.No online grievance redressal mechanism
14.No regular verification process to check GAS leak
15.There is no transparency in pricing Prices are increased day by day
16.IOC and Indane helpline numbers are ineffective. Complaint making through website is tedious
17.No receipts are given for spares & service charge
18.The safety valves are missing in many cylinders
19.When someone does not buy a cylinder for more than 6 months, he/she is disconnected by the gas company forcing them to buy cylinders in black and take a new connection. This policy must be changed.

The Temporary disconnection and reconnection for PNG gas should be done the same day on which request for disconnection/reconnection is received. They should not take more than one day for temporary disconnection/reconnection. If necessary more direct marketing agents should be appointed to do the work quickly. more  
Point 19: The period should be increased from 6 months to 2 years, if not 2 years at least for one year certainly. It will avoid lot of inconvenience and waste of time and resources. more  
6 months is reasonable. temporary disconnection and re-connection facility be used beyand 6 months more  
Now a day Gas bottle supplier agency has started forced service on the name of gas stove inspection with charges of Rs. 150. This point shall be considered with the above list to get the clarity, does it introduced by Government or agency itself? more  
Why doesn't your questionnair have a box for us to tick? It would have been easier.
I have not opted for subsidy and in Chennai we do not have piped supply of gas.
However there is now an improvement in the condition of the cylinders.
However Rs. 75/- is collected annually as a matter of right and no real inspection is done.
Often the technician is incapable of handling complaints of gas leak and temperamental
burning of the gas burners.
Generally the service boys are courteous and extend good customer service. I do not think
Rs. 20 to Rs.50 is to be grudged because they do not get much commission and are mostly temporary staff hence no salary perks. No insurance etc. When one sees them gasping under the weight of the cylinder on a hot summeris day one cannot but hand out a tip or failing that
at least a glass of cool water or fruit juice!

As far as Gujarat is concerned we don't find major irregularities regarding gas bills from gas pipeline agencies.
Of course there are irregularities find from gas bottle supplier agencies because of rival between these two. The bottle suppliers find less business and profit due to transparency of central government policy. But in other states there is still old procedures and same situation due to negligence in public due to corruption and fear of antisocial elements. This is the fact. more
