GST reduction is the beggining step. Its implementation is the next important step.Govt agencies must do 5-10% sampling check so as to create fear among business community for implementation.Otherwise many may be reluctant to implement timely. As has been reported in local circle. more
Yes we need to extra cautions on the new items which has been reduced.Actually not much media coverage in newspaper have been given item wise. more
Unless the GST enforcement cell takes examplery action, there will be laxity with the producers and you will find prices continuing the same with profiteering cases. more
GST confusions to continue. I don't understand why the Government did not start the GST application/implementation with lower rate from the beginning. Is the Government now obliging the Producers/Manufacturers or consumers? more
The government is obliging only the consumers who get the benefit. Producers and manufacturers are two words meaning the same. more
Why was this 28% in the first place and how is the government going yo compensate for the extra tax collected let's talk about government profiteering before we attack businesses, how was the excess money used and how is it going to be refunded? more
Mr. Derek,
This is not the right place to question the fixation of GST rate done by the GST council. Write to GST council, file an RTI application with them or take some other appropriate step like writing to anti profiteering body against the government. The states charge VAT on certain products. The most common is petroleum products. This has increased over the years. have you ever protested or challenged that?
I hope you are paying income tax. Over the years the income tax rates and surcharge, education cess etc. have been changed / applied. Have you ever refused to pay the surcharge / cess?
As for your giving the example of cinema tickets, for a ticket with the basic price of Rs. 100/-, it may have cost Rs. 118/- with GST at 18%. What prevents the cinema owners to increase the basic price to Rs. 110/- and charge Rs. 123/- including GST? The same applies to other products. The seller is at fault if he still charges the earlier GST and issues a cash memo showing that.
The readers / members will be enlightened with your answers. more
