Closure of Banks on Saturdays for Reforms

Scores of poor people, workers, housewives, students and middle class working people were in for a shock when they went to banks on last Saturday to withdraw the subsidy credited by oil company to their account because Modi circar had ordered closure of all banks on 2nd and last saturdays hereafter. Banks were functioning on all saturdays for decades in India. The sudden decision to down the shutters of banks on saturdays by Modi circar has put the salaried class into lot of inconvenience. After introduction of payment of subsidy through bank account, it is necessary make banks to work on sundays also to enable the public to withdraw the amount without taking leave from work. On the contrary Modi circar has blocked the money from reaching the beneficiaries by closing the banks on saturdays. Poor people cannot operate ATMs which go out of cash frequently and banks charge for issue of ATM cards and also for withdrawals through non home ATMs. The entire subsidy amount will be wiped out by ATM issue and usage charges. People are unable to understand what kind of reform is this going to be. more

In addition , there is ATM Facility also . But, there might have been News in T. V . Channels and in news papers . The other main issue I came through the news paper is that the Bank Employees took the issue of proposing Privatization of Nationalized Banks . When the Banks were in Private Sector , their BAD AND DOUBTFUL DEBTS WRITTEN OFF WERE HARDLY ANY. BUT, AFTER NATIONALIZATION AND PARTICULARLY SINCE LAST 2 DECADES, THE ISSUE OF WRITING OFF THE LOANS AS BAD DEBTS BECAME INCREASINGLY MULTIPLE. In my opinion , the Banks will perfectly run with the public Finances only for the public disallowing Writing off of bad debts without confining to legal recovery & work better based on the Ceilings & regulations of the Government for Industrial Finances . more
Thanks Kandap Shah ji, I hope that correction at the spot is very necessary so that it will not confuse others. more
Sir, it is very easy to criticise the bankers that they have got 2 Saturdays off in a month on the cast of other Saturdays with full time work. It is bankers who have working for the poor people e.g. opening the accounts of students, minors, rural people &zero balance accounts under jan dhan yojna. Sir, I think that you must aware that why the subsidies, scholarships and salaries are distributed through banks. You should know that only through banks it will be possible that poor people, children & salaried persons are getting their amount in right way. Why are you not criticising the various other deportments where poor people are not served in time & if served than on unwanted cast. Sir, Bankers are working very hard and they are the persons who are actually working in remote places where normal working conditions are very poor. They are the persons who can be encouraged so that economical development of the country should run on fast track because with out there dedicated support and hard work country should not become economically strong. more
