Clinical establishments act in UP

The localcircles some months back had done really good polls and study on patient rights which I remember said private hospital charges should be standardised and there should be serious checks on incentives to doctors by medical companies and labs.

UP Govt should include these and bring a clinical establishments act in UP. That will be great reform. Is Yogi ji listening? more

Incentives given to Doctors by Labs and by Medical companies to recommend their product and services tantamounts to bribery. This can an dshoudl bestoped. Instea dof UP govt taking it up, this is for Central Govt to enact for the whole country. As to standardised rates it is debatable---by same logic one will want same fees in all schools and colleges, same charges in restaurants. Competition is forcing the labs to offer quality in service, and bringing rates within reasonable limits. If their is cartelisation and on ecan prove it one cn tke it up separately. more

There is a serious flaw in the act - It mandates the rates to be charged. No doctor in his right mind can work with charges being dictated to him. Every procedure in every patient is different so charges shall differ. Also with areas also charges differ, since buying a space in Delhi/Mumbai isn't the same as buying it in Varanasi/Jalandhar etc. The day govt starts to dictate charges to me, I shall leave practise.. more

Now a days doctors and clinics have become commercial. Their main aim is to earn money not to serve the poor patients.Doctors prescribe many unnecessary medical tests to earn commission and also prescribe patented drugs rather than generic drugs in which margins are low.There should be strict law to check cheating of common people who are not able to afford such a higher rate of medical expenses due to nexus between greedy doctors, pathological Labs and pharmaceutical companies, which are looting the peoples. more
