Circle for Misleading Ads
I am very happy and heartened to hear that Consumer protection bill has been cleared by Lok Sabha.
I urge consumer ministry to strongly consider starting a seperate circle for people to report misleading ads and then get the CCPA to act on them.
The current ASCI self regulation mechanism is not effective and just an eye wash. Companies dont take it seriously.
From mobile service providers to ayurveda products makers and from builders to nutrition products everyone is taking consumers for ride.
Only when there is a transparent mechanism to report Nd track and PUNISH will such misleading ads stop. more
Implementation is a major challenge in India. Need years to get justice. There is no importance of time and life in India.
Before the law passed we will find loopholes. To fill these holes need few more years. more
Let us be optimistic that this new Bill will help consumers and not advertisers more
Around 2 years back there was a government notification restricting ads for 6/7 minutes on TV during a programme for 30 minutes. Had it been implemented honestly, the viewers would have got relief automatically from many of such unbearable ads. As of now, if any viewer decide to watch a movie on TV, he/she need to spend three & half hrs to 4 hrs for a movie of 2 hrs or less, which is not less than a torture on them, which needs to be stopped. more
I agree. I have tried the ASCI complaint procedure once but failed. It is too complicated. For an ad that is shown on TV, they expect the complainant to attach a video clip of it. more
YES. TV ADS ARE EVEN WORSE. EVERY 5 MINUTES WE INDIANS HAVE TO TOLERATE STUPID ADS ON TV.Â
