Chronic Hepatitis B Disease (Liver Cancer)

Hi everybody
India is home of approximately 37 million HBV carrier. This virus is directly attack to liver and hamper functioning of liver. The dangerous thing about Hepatitis B is silent disease. It has very less symptoms. Mostly patients do not know that they are suffering from HBV carrier. When we reach to last stage of this disease that is liver cirrohosis (liver cancer), then major symptoms come out, But at this stage chances of recovery very low.
During Initial stage of this disease virus can be killed with proper medication. Second stage virus growth can be controlled and patient can live long life but last stage is very critical, chances of recovery is very less.
I think there should be general awareness drive and followed by screening for everybody in all regions our country to tackle this problem. Then we can accordingly fight with this disease

I think first we need to know that how people get infected with this virus. Hepatitis B is spread when blood, semen, or other body fluid infected with the Hepatitis B virus enters the body of a person who is not infected. People can become infected with the virus during activities such as: 1. Birth (spread from an infected mother to her baby during birth) 2. Sex with an infected partner 3. Sharing needles, syringes, or other drug-injection equipment 4. Sharing items such as razors or toothbrushes with an infected person 5. Direct contact with the blood or open sores of an infected person 6. Exposure to blood from needle sticks or other sharp instruments more
Dear Shankar Sir: I have clearly mentioned that a strong lobby should be formed by the public to put an end on consumption of Liquor, Cola Drinks and Tobacco using. Government would never ban the above items everybody is aware since it brings lot of exchequer to them by way of excise, but and can create awareness on the destruction being created into our system by consumption of the above items. I have seen lot of patients suffering from cancer due to consumption of the above and most of them have lost their lives in a very critical situations ie suffering from pain by way of not able to eat properly, sleep properly and breath properly. People are bled to death due to damage of liver because liver controls the bleeding. Until and until people realize the importance of liver nothing can be done. Regards, Dr.Sriraama, Kolkata. more
Dear Dr Sriraam Subramaniam, Do not expect the government to ban the toxic cola drinks. Let there be social awareness about the bad effects of cola drinks. That would be a better approach. Teachers in schools, colleges and parents must act as motivators to wean their students / children away from such toxic drinks. Instead , the children should be encouraged to take tender coconut water, lime water, bel juice, all fruit juices. Fresh tomato juice prepared in mixi and after straining sprinkled with a dash of salt and black pepper also tastes fantastic! more
Dear Sharvanji: I am very happy that you have put up a very good topic for discussion on Liver. Most of us do not know the capability, strength and importance of liver. Liver is like Mother to the Body and Heart is the Father of the Body. Both are neglected by everybody. Liver express its displeasure and show stress only when it is not able to function ie when it is only 10% active. Such is the quality of the Liver. All the toxins including food, environment, make ups create lot of toxins and Liver with lot of Patience guards our Body. It is suggested that all most undergo LFT atleast twice in a year. Smokers, Gudkha(Tobacco Consumers) and who takes liquor tax the liver everyday and once its capability goes the disease seeps in. It is high time that our Government takes bold steps to stop consumption of Liquor, Gudka and drinks like Coca Cola, Thumbs Up and Pepsi in order to save the Liver. But who would Bell the Cat. A strong lobby against these all should be formed and pressure should be created so that we and our future generations can save THEIR LIVER. Dr.Sriraama, Kolkata. more
