Chemical and Fruit/Subzi wallahs

Seems like many of us are aware and rightfully concerned about sabzi and fruit wallahs injecting chemicals. Can we as individuals get to how this works and may be with FSSAI assistance, police and municipal authority, raids could be conducted at the source to stope sale of such chemicals to them or to put 3-4 in all major towns behind bars.

If media cooperates and the word spreads, the malpractices could largely stop. more

Root cause for some of the following are -CORRUPTION OF MIND. 1. Adulteration 2.Artifiial jacking prices of groceries such as Tur Dal,Milk, onion etc 3.Cost of Flats beyond the means of a common man 4.Variations in wages/salaries for the same type of jobs across board Now that we have addressed "demonitisation," I am sure, the present government will take up one by one subjects and clean the country. more
It is still seen in calcatta also. So the environment of deaseases are increasingly. Municipal, police and political leaders should visit off and on to investigate the market for health of citizens more
FSSAI SHOULD BE VISIBLE AND EFFECTIVELY FUNCTION. LET ME GIVE AN EXAMPLE. ONCE I SAW A DRUNK MAKING A NUISANCE OF HIMSELF. I ALSO SAW A POLICEMAN STANDING OPPOSITE THE MARKET PLACE. I ASKED HIM WHY DOES HE NOT STOP THIS NUISANCE? HE SAID NOBODY HAS COMPLAINED. SIMILARLY, TIMES OF INDIA EVERY DAY GIVES PHOTO EVIDENCE OF OPEN DRAIN, HEAVILY DAMAGED ROAD, ILLEGAL HAWKERS ETC AND IN COUPLE OF DAYS MUNICIPAL AUTHORITIES CLAIM THAT THE PROBLEM IS RESOLVED. I LIVE IN MUMBAI, ON A MAIN ROAD NEAR A MARKET SINCE DECADES BUT NOT SEEN ANY MUNICIPAL PERSONNEL EVEN ONCE. MAIN ISSUE IS HOW TO MAKE FSSAI EFFECTIVELY PERFORM THEIR DUTY. more
Most of the time I notice that Fairywala at Sabji Market near Borivali station Mumbai use the weighing machine which always show more weight then actual, at least 100 gm. per killo. Weight & Measures staff should visit such places regularly to stop such practice. more
