the young generation tends to order food on the go online and get it delivered. I have noticed atleast 3 times since Nov 15 that when you order food through these apps, the actual consumer prices is maintained the same despite a 13% reduction in GST. They have basically altered the basic food prices. GST officials and Consumer officials must look in this is possible. more
Pricing has always been a prerogative of the the manufacturers/ producers worldwide. But so far as the case of restaurants is concerned, I feel these restaurants need to be classified as A, B ,C etc and the price of commodities can be fixed by the Government on the basis of the availability ingredients and their price. At present we can't have any control on pricing. more
Even prior to reduction is the GST rates, food items for home delivery were being charged with additional amount towards GST ( central and state ) over and above the already revised food prices. The same trend is still being followed with impunity. No body is there to look into such exploitation of citizens and regulate the prices in view of now reduced rates of GST. It is free for all situation. The Govt seems to be least bothered. Vegetable prices soar almost every alternate day as different vendors charging different prices even in same locality and cities. There is no fear and respect for laws and regulatory provisions. As a result poor people and common citizens are suffering. The concerned departments and ministries must have a regular mechanism for inspection and monitoring the prices of commodities and hotel/ restaurants pricing and must take suitable and strict action on the defaulters. more
That is right. Yesterday I had coffee in a famous hotel chain in Chennai. Though the GST is shown as reduced, they have increased the basic coffee price so we end up paying either the same amount or slightly more. Imagine charging customers Rs 35 for a small cup of coffee in a middle class hotel in an ordinary locality in Chennai. There appears to be no business ethics at all nowadays. more
