Carbide Ripening of Mangoes in UP
I recently joined FSSAI local circles at http://bit.ly/foodsafety-community as invited by local circle.
Carbide ripening is very common in UP. Via this platform can we request food minister of UP and the CM to put an end to this practice. fruit sellers all know its happening.
UP is home to so many mangoes, langda, dasheri, chausa and we can have them in natural form. this menace must be stopped. more

Like adulteration of milk, injection of oxitocin to the vegetables and fruits, ripening of not only mango but many fruits by Calcium Carbide and many chemicals of China make is taking place on large scale to the milk, fruits and vegetables sold in Delhi and such adulteration and carbide treatment is done in whole sale vegetable markets in Delhi as often shown by various TV news channels. The remedy lies not only in educating the people but in activating the role of food and marketing inspectors and the department of food adulteration under the control of the Delhi Government in Delhi. While U.P. Govt. is seen conducting raids against adulteration of sweets etc., Delhi Government is sleeping as usual. I have seen Sujata Singh's post on the other circle in praise of the Kejriwal Government and it appears she is an AAP activist. Therefore, I would request her to ask Kejriwal Government to stop this menace in Delhi instead of wasting time in educating people or asking UP Govt. to do. more

Mahesh Chandra Noida/ Dehradun Carbide has become essential ingredient in mangoes ripening by the fruit sellers. It can only be stopped when State Government bans sale of Carbide in open market. more

Good suggestion. We should buy.Then how does one educate the public. Unless and until the fruit market is regulated either by the State Government and/or the Mandis, this will continue. There are Municipal inspectors/Health inspector in every district and they should be held responsible. This can be done by the District administration, in case they are serious. more
