What are the various types of cancers that we Indians are most susceptible to? Kindly share details someone and what precautionary measures can be taken? more

Dear Jyotsna, Cancer can strike anyone .irrespective of age at any time Indians suffer. From same types. As any where Else. There are400 types of cancer and treatment. Is mainly,chemo therapy radiation, surgery, harmone, breast conservation and some recent therapies. Prevention can be done by changing. Ones life style. Like. Stopping smoking, no alcohol! No tobacco consumption in any form. Women shoud practice BreastbSelf Examination. 3fingers,3minutes after 30days to discover lumps if any. Mammography is advised every 2 years after 40 years once a year after 50 years of age Pap smear should be done annually to prevent C of cervix. Unusual bleeding from vagina after me napause. Requires investigation, uterine, C, ovarian C. are women's cancers 2percent men can also have breast C most breast are sporadic. Or familial, hereditary are only 5 tob10 percent Men's cancers are prostate, penile testicular. If cancer is detected in early stage 90 percent are completely curable Cancer is never infectious!or contagious One has to eat the right type of food to prevent C One should avoid obesity, constipation. We indians are prone to all types of cancers because of our unhealthy lifestyles and the pollution around. But females areat a very high risk for breast and cervical cancer. A little awareness and regular screening can go a long way in preventing cancers. Mainly the important to-dos are - eat a well balanced, healthy diet. Exercise at least for 30 min 3-4 times a week. Know your body and report any abnormal changes to your doctor. Maintain a normal weight ie BMI within 18-25. Avoid stress, maintain a good social circle and most importantly have a regular screening to detect eariest signs of cancer. Once in 10yrs between 20-40yrs, once in 5 yrs between 40-50 and every 2 yrs after that. more
