I agree to this proposal whole heartedly. Alternatively I would suggest the following: There are some SCHEMES already running, like the one in REGIONAL CANCER CENTRE, TRIVANDRUM, where one can become a member in the SCHEMEN "CANCER CARE FOR LIFE". I and my wife joined the Scheme in the 1970s and we are still the members of the Scheme. The same or similar SCHEME can be made available for all citizens. All interested parties can become member, without any age restriction by collecting a nominal amount.I had to pay only about a thousand rupees for joining the SCHEME at that time. By the Grace of God, we had no occassion to avail any facility under the SCHEME. So, let there be a CANCER CARE FOR LIFE for all interested citizens. They can contribute an amount and become members. They may or may not avail any facility under the Scheme, so long as they are not effected by cancer. The fund so accumulated (may be an amount of Rs.10,000 / 5,000 per head) can be separately maintained and used for the treatment / welfare of members of the SCHEME. In the meantime, as I had already suggested, generic medicines for treatment of cancer should be made available at Govt. level. more  

I once again reiterate to request Medical Gods, to treat cancer patients on humanitarian grounds more than affordability. Medicines may cost but life is costlier. There should be a line drawn up to treat cancer cases on the same lines of epidemic, if forgotten over a period of time. more  

Yes, a national level fund be created and people should be called for generous contribution in the fund. The government can also fix up an amount of contribution to be made in the fund by the corporate houses each year. However, every care must be taken against misutilisation of the money contributed into the fund and it should also be ensured that no genuine needy is denied or delayed in getting timely financial assistance for treatment of the dreadful disease. more
